Karnataka State Nursing Council

The Karnataka State Nursing Council was constituted in the year 1971 under the authority of Karnataka Nurses, Midwives & Health Visitors Act of 1961.

The First council was nominated by Government with different members representing various constituencies under section 3 of the Act, all together consisting of 22 members. The Council is an Autonomous Statutary Registration body for qualified Nurses, Midwives, ANM’s and Health Visitors.

The State Government under their letter No. HFW 202 MSN 84, dated 27th August 1991, has Approved the bye-laws.
These bye-laws may be called the Karnataka State Nursing Council Bye-Laws.

The institutions which are approved & recognised by the Council after inspection by its representative shall be competent to train nurses, midwives, auxiliary nurse-midwives or health visitors & to send them for examination for the qualification certificate of the council.
